What is Desa Potato Head?

A creative village by the ocean where music, art, design, food, and wellbeing play together. Sparking good times while doing good for the planet, too.

Does it cost money to enter?

During peak hours (from 4.30pm -7pm) there is a cover charge to enter the Beach Club of 250k IDR, fully redeemable for food and drink of your choice.

During special events, the cover charge may vary. You can check the Beach Club event schedule here.

During off-peak hours (before 4.30pm) the Beach Club is free to enter and there are plenty of seating options with no minimum spend. However, these areas can’t be booked in advance and tend to fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early for the best chance of grabbing your spot.

Is there a security screening?

To help ensure good times for all, we check every bag coming into the Desa. Our security team is there to create a safe environment and your cooperation is very much appreciated.

We prohibit the single-use plastic bottle from entering the Desa and this will be informed during the security check. The walk-in guest can exchange it with a water token.

Where can I park my car or scooter?

We have a parking garage for both. Our security guards will guide you to the designated areas.

Is there WiFi at the Desa?

The internet is free, unlimited, and available everywhere inside Desa Potato Head.

Is the Desa wheelchair- or stroller-friendly?

We have ramps leading to all areas of the Desa, and lifts as well. If you need any assistance please tell our team and they will be happy to help get you where you want to go.

Can I bring my dog with me?

The Desa is dog-friendly but not at the Suites & Studios rooms and Sunset Park, and they must remain on a lead at all times. Legally recognised service animals are permitted across the Desa.

I want to spend the day at the Beach Club but have a suitcase with me. Can you store my luggage?

We can hang onto your belongings while you enjoy the Desa. Please tell our ambassadors when you arrive and they’ll help get it stored safely. We also have showers and locker rooms for you to freshen up before your departure.

I’ve left behind a personal item. How can I get it back?

If you’ve lost or left behind a belonging, please email us at [email protected] or call us at +62361 6207979 and we’ll do our best to recover it for you.

Do you accept American Express?

All major credit cards are accepted across the entire Desa.

Do you have an ATM?

Our ATM is located in the Beach Club, also accessible via the Escalier store.

Is there a doctor at the Desa?

If you’re not feeling well at any of our other venues, please let our staff know and we will assist you to our on-site infirmary.

Can I smoke?

Smoking is only allowed in the designated smoking areas.

I came by Gojek. Can I leave it that way?

If you have requested to be picked up through an app, due to the local community regulations you must meet your driver at the end of our driveway (on the main street, Petitenget). We can always arrange a local taxi for you; they are safe, comfortable, and ready to roll.

What do I do if there’s a natural disaster?

In any situation, please remain calm and listen to all instructions given by our team. Do not use the lifts when moving to designated assembly points. In the case of an earthquake, crouch down and protect your head.

Can I take professional photos? And what about a drone?

Drones and professional cameras (those including telephoto or zoom lenses) are not permitted at the Desa, but we welcome you to snap away with less invasive cameras (smartphones, point-and-shoots, etc.).

I really like what the staff is wearing. Can I buy one of their shirts?

Nothing would make us happier. Potato Head shirts can be purchased here, Circle Store, or from the Desa’s concept store, Escalier.

How much is a taxi from the airport to the Desa?

Typically, a standard taxi from the airport to the Desa is IDR 475.000 nett. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to book a personal driver through Potato Head.

Can I change the dates of my reservation?

What time can I check into Potato Head Suites and Studios?

Staying guests can tune in at 3 pm. If we can accommodate an earlier tune-in, we will.

What time do I need to check out of Potato Head Suites and Studios?

Tune-out is at 12 pm (noon). If we can accommodate a late tune-out, we will.

What time is breakfast?

Breakfast is served from 7 am–11 am.

Is the water safe to drink?

We partner with BioSystems to retrieve water from the ocean instead of the island’s natural reserve. Through the process of reverse osmosis, saltwater is made safe to drink and used at restaurants inside the Desa as well as at designated water-bottle refill stations. Do not drink from any tap that is not intended for consumption purposes.

Is there a doctor on duty?

An on-call doctor can come to your room at any time of day.

Can I smoke in my room?

All Studios and Suites are non-smoking rooms, but you may smoke outside on the balcony or patio area (ashtray upon request).

Can I bring my pet with me?

We love animals as much as you do, however, they are not allowed inside the Studios except for legally recognised service dogs.

Can I have a package sent there prior to my arrival?

Yes, you can. Please email [email protected] for info on the best way to send your package, as not every delivery service operates in Bali.

Do you have a pool?

Guests staying in Potato Head Suites can use the building’s secluded pool as well as the pools at the Beach Club. Guests of Potato Head Studios have access to the Beach Club pools.

Is there a gym or spa?

Both! Our gym has the latest equipment and our spa offers a mix of both traditional and modern treatments.

What amenities are in my room?

While the unique details vary from room to room, Potato Head Suites and Studios are equipped with a zero-waste kit, refillable suncare essentials, and all-natural soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

What is that amazing scent in my room?

Inspired by the aromas of Bali, the fragrance diffused in our Studios is a blend of jasmine, water lily, and cedarwood with a hint of musk, custom-created by the Japanese brand retaW. If you are allergic, please let our concierge know.

Eat + Drink FAQ

Where does your food come from?

We source all of our ingredients as close to home as possible: Bali first, Indonesia second, Asia third.

Potato Head is sourcing 100% of its eggs from a cage-free supplier, Happy Eggs Indonesia. This is a continuing endeavour across our operations and we work closely with our suppliers and partners to source all of our ingredients responsibility for the sake of our planet and for the welfare of animals.

The rice we serve was grown in the Heart of Bali by farmers working with Astungkara Way, a project focused on rice paddy ecosystem restoration and regenerative farming methods.

What if I’m allergic to something on the menu?

Our team will always ask about food allergies when taking your order and our kitchen is happy to remove any item you’re not able to eat or drink.

How can I book a reservation?

Is there a minimum spend for reservations or large groups?

For groups of 10 or more, we suggest taking our set menu. For group bookings that require exclusivity, there may be a minimum spend to secure the booking.

How can I cancel my dinner reservation?

Can I bring in a special bottle of wine? Is there a corkage fee?

You certainly can! There is a corkage fee of IDR 350k++ per bottle for regular wine and champagne bottles (IDR 700k++ for magnums per bottle). Unfortunately, no outside liquor (vodka, gin) is permitted.

Do you allow birthday balloons or other decorations?

We’re happy to help you celebrate, but decorations aren’t allowed.

I’d like to surprise my friends. Can I pay for their dinner if I’m not there?

Yes, just determine the amount and we’ll send a secure link for you to pay in advance.

Who is the chef?

Noguchi is our Executive Chef and Pamela Yung is our R&D Chef.

What does a zero-waste-to-landfill philosophy mean?

Design materials in the restaurant and cooking techniques in the kitchen that minimize our environmental footprint, as well as solutions for all the organic and inorganic waste we produce so none of it ends up in landfills.

Can I pay with foreign currency?

No, we only accept IDR.

Do you have a kid’s menu?

We do! For each restaurant within the Desa, too.

I want to surprise someone with flowers. Can you help with that?

A personalised flower arrangement can be created for any occasion. Allow 24-48 hours for preparation, depending on the selection.

Functions FAQ

Can I get married at the Desa?

We’d be happy to host your special event. For weddings, corporate functions, or other large group events, please email [email protected].

Can our event include fireworks?

We don't use traditional fireworks, but we're open to using drones or eco-friendly alternatives.

We’ve chartered a party bus. Where can it park?

The max size of any bus entering our Desa is a 35-seater, which can drop off guests but must park at Petitenget Temple (down the street from us in Seminyak).

Do you host cooking classes?

At the moment we don’t offer this, but watch this space!

What kinds of F&B activities do you offer?

We offer master classes in cocktail mixology, tea making or how to make jamu, Indonesia’s ancient health tonic. Please check our Headlines magazine or online for more information.

How many rooms do I need to book to receive a special group rate?

Eight rooms per night or more qualify for a special rate. Call your friends!

What’s the minimum number of people needed for an event to get a special group rate?

All you need is 25 people.

Can we do a group activity or team-building workshop at the Desa?

For sure! We offer a variety of workshops and are open to hearing your creative ideas. Contact [email protected] to discuss the options.

Does the Desa have meeting space?

We do. Our meeting venues can hold 10 to 100 people (theater-style).

Can we book daybeds for a group?

Daybeds are first come, first served and cannot be reserved for large groups. However, if you buy out the entire Desa, they’re all yours.

Is there a curfew for outdoor events?

All outdoor events must conclude by 10 pm.

Can we put up our own signage during an event?

Banners and other marketing displays are fine in the private event area and the term is valid for buy-out only.

Is it okay to put your logo on our event marketing?

The Potato Head logo can be used in communication with your event attendees. In all other cases, Potato Head requires approval before publishing.

What is the initial deposit required to lock in our group?

We require 50% of the total estimated expenses to secure your event booking.

I’ve heard such good things about Potato Head’s music. Can one of your DJs soundtrack our event?

Depending on their availability, our resident DJs are always up for soundtracking your event. Drop us an email to get a quote, including the DJ, equipment, and sound system.

We’re planning our company conference. Can we buy out the hotel?

Yep! The Desa has a total of 225 rooms (Potato Head Suites and Potato Head Studios combined), just let us know what you have in mind and we can work with you to reserve a block of rooms (or all of them!) for a special rate.

What’s included in a meeting package?

Standard equipment (one LCD projector and screen, whiteboard, sound system, two microphones) and free-flow coffee, tea, and snacks (during the break), free-flow filtered water and mints, plus writing pads and pencils.
