Initiatives

We started our sustainability journey by managing our own waste responsibly. It inspired us to do more, and to do better. Over the years, we’ve seen how this approach, not just to business but to life, has created a positive ripple effect in communities beyond our own.

Trace the steps we have taken to keep our planet happy.

Our Initiatives

Zero Waste

We clean up our own backyard, and aim to manage our trash so we can be as close to zero waste as possible.

Community Waste Project

A collaborative initiative by Bali's hospitality businesses to reduce landfill waste to 5% by transforming waste into reusable products through a sustainable, circular economy model.

Sweet Potato Project

A community food project centred around regenerative farming. Since 2023, our team harvested 9,644 kg of produce and donated 74,661 meals to our community. Around 40% of produce from our farm was used as ingredients at our outlets, such as Tanaman.

Carbon Neutrality

In 2017 we became the first hospitality company in Indonesia to go carbon neutral, by investing in UNFCCC certified carbon-reducing projects in Asia.

Sustainability Report 2023

This report covers the challenges we’ve faced, the solutions we’ve discovered, and the progress we’ve made so far.

We’ve been lucky enough to be guided and supported by so many partners along the way. Now, we’re sharing this report because it’s our turn to give back. We hope this can be a helpful resource for anyone embarking on a similar journey.

Offset Your Stay

A small gesture goes a long way. We’ve partnered with Fairatmos to offer guests the opportunity to offset the carbon emissions from their stay with us while tuning in.

By choosing to offset carbon emissions, guests directly contribute to a conservation project in Central Kalimantan that helps keep the local forests happy –  and happy forests make a happy planet.

Wasted Lab

Inspired and inspiring, this research and development design workshop pulses with creative energy.

It’s a dynamic, collaborative space dedicated to our goal of becoming a zero waste operation and uses surplus materials from daily operations, alongside waste collected from Bali, to fashion and fabricate design objects and decor – all to ensure material circularity at Potato Head.

Open Source

Transparency is key. By being open-source, we share our journey and welcome people to take a look at what we’ve achieved so far. Make your way to the Infographic section of The Womb for a deep dive into the facts and numbers behind our sustainability practices.
