White Shoes & The Couples Company (WSATCC) is an Indonesian Pop sextet from Jakarta who perform Indonesiana (Indonesian Pop music). Their sound is inspired by old Indonesian film soundtracks from the 70s and the acoustic spirit of 30s Jazz musicians—while also absorbing the rhythm of retro disco and classical music arrangements. SORE was originally formed by three childhood friends—Ade Paloh, Mondo Gascaro, and Awan Garnida. In late 2001, Awan brought in two more friends, Bembi Gusti and Reza Dwiputranto, to complete the lineup. They named the group SORE, which means “late afternoon” in Indonesian. In 2004–2005, they appeared on two compilation albums: JKRT:SKRG (“Jakarta, Now”), showcasing the city’s indie scene, and the Janji Joni original soundtrack—both released by Aksara Records. Their debut album Centralismo was reviewed by TIME Asia in 2005 as “One of Asia’s Worth-Buying Albums.” In 2007, Rolling Stone Indonesia ranked it #40 in their list of “150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time.”
