astungkara way

Astungkara Way is a social enterprise offering an alternative to mass tourism while supporting Balinese communities. Through their walks and educational programmes, they offer tourists an opportunity to learn more about Balinese culture while encouraging locals to practice regenerative farming.

Potato Head has been supporting its efforts by building recycled plastic cabins, equipped with showers and toilets, for guests to stay in during the walks. We’re also buying rice grown by the farmers working with the project for all the restaurants in the Desa. By doing this, we’re able to have direct relationships with farmers, while transforming hectares of land to produce healthy and regenerative rice. Using this system of natural farming, we’re actively helping to reduce the amount of carbon being released into the atmosphere.
