As 2022 comes to a close, this December will be a celebration of yet another mystical lap around the sun. We’ve curated a selection of our most magnetic acts from the past year alongside some fresh faces to help channel and manifest everyone’s inner Potato Head. A coming together of the esoteric and the familiar, we invite you to join the family, lean into a month of sensory indulgence and have some good times with us – all while doing good.

NIGHT MOVES: 23 DEC

Night Moves return to dial up the energy via a heady session of dance-led sounds and vibrations on Friday 23rd December. Curated for Bali’s musically astute party people, the vibrant events present visiting international artists alongside local heroes in our stunning Beach Club surroundings.

Venerated party-starter Young Marco will ride in with his gorgeously off-kilter selections, captivating the dancers with his distinct blend of diligently sourced ‘unclassics’ and curios. Setting the scene as the afternoon sun slowly sets beneath the horizon, Canadian artist Yu Su will select far-flung sonic influences plucked from dance music’s outer reaches, with her dreamy, left-field soundscapes sure to enchant as they cascade across evolving evening skies. Igniting the party spirit after dark, the effervescent soundscapes of scene stalwart Jonny Rock will echo late into the night, his cultured selections sure to enliven spirits under the glistening moonlight.

Expect eclectic sounds from seductive ambient textures to dusty-fingered edits and oddball wonders from a trio of the global underground’s most inspired selectors.

SUN DOWN CIRCLE

Known for its distinctive music selections, local institution Sun Down Circle has carved out a unique niche for those seeking to combine tropical atmospherics with an imaginatively curated line-up of international DJs. On Wednesday, December 28th, the renowned event returns to the loving embrace of our kaleidoscopic Beach Club with a true master of musical selection at the helm. Rush Hour Records co-founder Antal will take guests on an immersive journey into esoteric rhythms and melodies, the revered selector primed to deftly surf styles and genres during a magnetic, six-hour session.

Setting the warm-up tone in style, edit specialist and esteemed digger Jonny Rock will join our resident Gero for a back-to-back session of refined sunset delights. From obscure international disco to eclectic funk and global groove, expect the unexpected from this immaculate DJ cast.

NYE

As another year passes, we’ll once again be guiding you into the New Year with a genre-spanning party bursting with positive vibrations. Seeing out 2022 in suitably stunning style, an expansive cast of DJ protagonists will provide a propulsive soundtrack, with a stellar set of international luminaires joining our gifted residents as we prepare to usher in the New Year.

Desa’s dazzling Beach Club will play host to a harmonious blend of revellers, the party launching in the warm afternoon sun and extending deep into the tropical night. Groundbreaking selector and Hessle Audio co-founder Ben UFO brings his genre-defying mix of electronic gems to set the effervescent party mood. Fresh from releases on renowned label, Mute Records, Australia’s HAAi will showcase her profound passion for sonic experimentation, and lifelong rave disciple Saoirse is primed to effortlessly weave her diverse sound signature to enliven the festive energy.

The night promises to be a vibrant voyage into cutting-edge musical textures and animated celebration, with sounds from deep house and dubstep to techno and breaks seamlessly undulating throughout the night.

NIGHT MOVES: 7 JAN

Night Moves, an international dance party aptly dubbed ‘a party for friends, by friends’ returns on January 7th with a typically cultured headline act taking the controls. Hosted in our paradisiacal Beach Club, loose-limbed bodies are set to sway to the imaginatively-spun sounds of one of the most intriguing selectors to have emerged in recent years. UK-based Bradley Zero will ride in with a tightly packed bag of far-reaching esoteric grooves, the radio host, label head and Rhythm Section frontman certain to inspire delight as he elegantly surfs across stylistic boundaries.

Cutting-edge sounds caress smiling faces as the soothing breeze floats across the Indian Ocean, the stunning moonlit backdrop gorgeously augmenting the feel-good mood. From nu-jazz to sumptuous deep house, eclectic International rhythms to esoteric disco, join us on a discerning musical voyage in the heat of the tropical night.

A friendly reminder that there is no parking at Potato Head on NYE this year — for cars or scooters. Please use a local taxi or get those steps in by walking over through our main entrance (there’s no beach access on the night).
