We’re excited to welcome back Sun Down Circle on 21 August - Potato Head Beach Club’s iconic sunset gathering, bringing together live performances and DJs from around the world for a full day of music, from sunset into the night.

Featuring Azymuth live with Sabrina Malheiros, alongside Moodymann, Indra Lesmana, Kuniyuki, Chee Shimizu, Monkey Timers, Dita & Gero and Luma, this year’s edition continues a musical tradition that has helped define the soundtrack to Bali’s sunsets for more than a decade.

Since 2014, Sun Down Circle has celebrated the art of the sunset set, bringing together music, people and place as day gives way to night over the Indian Ocean.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed legendary live artists including Roy Ayers, Kamasi Washington and Larry Heard, alongside DJs such as DJ Harvey, Peggy Gou, Ben UFO and many others - each adding another chapter to the story.

More than a decade on, Sun Down Circle remains one of Bali’s defining musical gatherings - a celebration of listening, community and the timeless connection between music, the ocean and the setting sun.

This year’s programme begins with a pre-sunset deep listening session hosted by Chee Shimizu at Klymax, exploring the rich musical lineage connecting Indonesia, Brazil and beyond. Through records, stories and deep listening, the session traces the sounds that have long accompanied gatherings around the sun, revealing how rhythm, place and culture have brought people together through music for generations.

From there, the experience moves to Potato Head Beach Club for an afternoon of live performances and sunset DJ sets. Azymuth Live featuring Sabrina Malheiros soundtrack the setting sun, before Kuniyuki carries the energy into the evening with a live performance. As night falls, Moodymann, Monkey Timers, Dita & Gero take the circle late into the night.

Throughout the day, explore the Organic Music pop-up, artist merchandise and cultural activations, before the celebration continues into the early hours at Klymax Discotheque - where the sunset gives way to the dancefloor, and the circle continues.

Moodymann

Kenny Dixon Jr. aka Moodymann is one of Detroit's most enigmatic and influential house producers. Since the early ‘90s, the KDJ Records founder has shaped the soul of electronic music, melting jazz, funk, blues, and rock into something new. His electrifying live sets are unpredictable and unforgettable. There’s no one like Moodymann.

Azymuth ft. Sabrina Malheiros

Azymuth are one of the most influential bands in the history of Brazilian music. Joined by MPB star Sabrina Melheiros, they bring a joyfully cosmic fusion of 1970s jazz-funk, samba, and bossa nova to the stage. Five decades in, Azymuth’s smooth, groovy and soulful sensibilities are still the gold standard.

Chee Shimizu

The founder of Tokyo’s Organic Music, Japanese DJ and curator Chee Shimizu is one of the most crucial figures in modern record culture. Organic, cosmic, groovy and floating, Shimizu’s globally-minded DJ sets are singular journeys. Vintage disco, balearic sounds, dubby grooves and beyond—everything comes together when he is in control.

Indra Lesmana

Over the last four decades, Indra Lesmana has proven himself time and time again as an Indonesian jazz icon. A master pianist, Lesmana’s compositions mix technical prowess, improvisational depth and sophistication. Inspired by classic jazz and folkloric music from across the archipelago, he’s always looking forward and chasing what’s next.

Kuniyuki (live)

Kuniyuki Takahashi's music has a unique worldview that looks beyond borders. Based in Sapporo, he is often considered one of Japan’s best-kept secrets. Traversing ambient, house, and jazz, his productions, DJ sets and improvised live performances have inspired DJs across the globe and taken him to the world’s finest clubs.

Monkey Timers

Monkey Timers are TAKEKAWA and HISASHI. Since 2008, this Japanese duo have documented the evolution of new house and disco dub through their DJ sets, acclaimed singles and their debut album, KLUBB LONELY. Inspired by DJ Harvey and the Idjut Boys, they’ve brought their slow-burning selections to dancefloors worldwide.

Luma

Born in Brazil and based in Indonesia, Luma has been adding experiences across the continents. She boasts a wide and diverse musical palate curating a selection that brings her background to the dancefloor. Luma has played at both local and international venues such as Potato Head (IND), Sugar (ADL), Waxflower (MEL), Music Room (MEL) and radio shows like Skylab Radio (MEL), PBS Radio (MEL), Headstream Radio (IND), PaddyGrooves Radio (IND), Noods Radio (UK) & played at a few notable gigs for Crown Ruler and Finding Figaro - alongside Marcos Valle & Azymuth, Nu Genea, Chee Shimizu, Rick Wilhite, Dixon, Musclecars, Barbara Boeing and Omoloko.

Dita

Equipped with an alluring inventory of versatile sounds and an intrinsic ability to read the floor, Potato Head resident Dita elegantly captivates crowds with her lovingly curated blend of proto-house, Balearic disco, ‘90s breaks and more.

Gero

Endowed with an eclectic touch that defines his genre-gliding sets, Gero is blessed with the ability to take listeners on an immersive musical journey. Whether soundtracking a mesmerising sunset or an evolving sunrise, he shapes captivating sets perfectly pitched to his surroundings.
