The Territory
Directed by Alex Pritz
The Territory follows the Uru‑eu‑wau‑wau, an Indigenous Amazonian community under siege in Brazil’s Rondônia, as they fight to protect their ancestral land from illegal settlers and deforestation. At its center is Bitaté, a young leader chosen by his community to organize surveillance and resistance, including drone patrols and media production. He works closely with veteran activist Neidinha Bandeira to document threats and assert their narrative. Filmed on-location with vérité footage spanning three years, including scenes captured by community members themselves, the documentary delivers a visceral, urgent portrait of resilience, cultural survival, and environmental defense.
